While at the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Illinois Terrorism Task Force, we had the opportunity to work with the Illinois Broadcasters Association and its NCSA/PEP program to promote public safety and school safety messages. The program helped us share our messages statewide...and with 2, 3 or 4 times the air time than the normal cost. Even in the biggest markets, our messages got some prime air times. We got immediate attention to any questions we had, and the IBA offered its broadcast expertise in helping us effectively share our message.

Working with the IBA was a true partnership to educate the public on Illinois' most pressing homeland security issues. They truly offer a one-stop shop for all our campaign needs, from the initial creative concept to the production of radio and TV broadcast as well as digital creative. The ROI we experienced was nothing short of amazing, with a minimum 3:1 return on investment. We were also impressed with the flexibility and options they provided, allowing us to purchase statewide or regional coverage, on radio or TV or even both! But what really set IBA apart was their dedication and commitment to our homeland security projects. They went above and beyond to ensure the success of our public education campaigns, and continued to be a valuable resource for our department long after the campaigns ended. We couldn't have asked for a better media partner.

When I worked in Adult Protective Services as part of the Illinois Department on Aging, I worked as a grant lead on a multi-million dollar grant to promote how are programs can help older adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation. In working on the media outreach for our information campaign, I turned to Dennis Lyle with the Illinois Broadcasters Association who constructed a radio outreach campaign that would reach our audience in the most cost-effective manner while building awareness of elder abuse. The campaign ran statewide with radio affiliates who aired our 30 and 60 second spots as part of the PEP program. The Department as well as our federal partners were extremely pleased with the results. The coverage resulted in more public awareness and undoubtedly more calls into the elder abuse hotline. We are so thankful for the stewardship shown by IBA and I hope to work with them again on other projects!
